Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student did her homework nicely! Her pronunciation is always great. In the review, she remembered 1,2 and 3. Today's new pinyin were y, u, and yu. We also discussed new short phrases: you're welcome and happy new year. We also discussed new vocab including 7, 8 and 9. Her homework is to practice say and write the numbers and say three basic greetings."
"I first reviewed with the student, his math and social studies homework. I then reviewed the 'bie' construction with him combined it with some other terms. We also reviewed dates, times and numbers in Mandarin."
"Today, we covered the assigned Mandarin exercises in his workbook (Unit 1 Lesson D). The chapter focused on classroom and education-related vocabulary (i.e. class subjects, grade). We practiced a few of the question-related vocabulary words at the end (i.e. "How many/how much")."
"We reviewed introduction conversation vocabulary and spent the rest of the session on verb conjugation. The student is struggling the most with the difference between "nosotros" and "ellos," but he will get it. He continues to have a good attitude about learning Spanish."
"Today, we briefly went over the student's homework, and then we read an article together about the successful landing of new rockets on a website. We will continue with small writing assignments and grammar and vocabulary via a book that the student is ordering."
"Today we learned how to ad the word "mente" to the adjectives, and also we learned some abbreviations and new vocabulary. The student didn't struggle, but he just didn't know any of the abbreviations in Spanish, so everything was new for him. He was very excited that he was learning new stuff. We started reading the story of Percival, then I told him to pick 5 words that he didn't know from the reading and write them in his notebook. After that I explained them to him and he gave me some examples. We continued with the abbreviations. I wrote 5 and he looked for them in my iPhone, then he wrote them in his notebook. To finish I gave him some flashcards, I told him an adjective and he added the word "mente" and gave me an example. He did an excellent job!"
