Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student continued working on his yearlong term paper on WWII. We reworked and edited parts of his first topic paragraphs and continued to find additional source material to support additional topics. He will work independently on paper this week to further progress."
"Practiced writing and developing thesis. Worked on crafting catchy introductory paragraphs using quotations, anecdotes, stories etc. The student is bright, diligent, and motivated. He's very imaginative and associative. He's got a lot of potential. In the future I will try to get him reading more, as critical reading skills will increase his vocab, spelling, and familiarity with written arguments."
"First, we discussed some time management skills. Next, we outlined her essay for English class and created her bibliography, plus an actionable plan to fill in the skeleton that we created for the assignment."
"I assisted with reviewing the student's application for medical school and a research position. I went through various sections and helped to edit and revise sentence structure and strategize what and how to include relevant experience."
"This was our first session, so I tried to get a feel for where the student is in terms of his reading and writing abilities. We did quite a few exercises from one of his workbooks from school. However, I think that this particular book is not challenging enough for him, as he breezed through it with little trouble. To remedy that, I will bring in materials next week that will be more difficult and engaging. Overall, we got along well and had a good session. I look forward to our next one."
"The student and I spent our session brainstorming for her literary analysis of "A Rose for Emily." We discussed historical content of the author and time period, community context, and gender relations within the story. Overall, she enjoyed the story and will re-read to look for key symbols and concepts."
