Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we covered more bonding, mole conversions and Lewis dot structure drawing in preparation for the student's final."
"We set up study material and prepared for the student's Earth Science test. We also reviewed her humanities homework."
"I met with the student and her mother. We spent our time working on the student's Chemistry homework, which covered the ideal gas laws. She had a pretty good grasp of the material and I didn't have to help much, except with conversion rates. After this, we talked a little about her standing in her classes and what goals she would like to set for herself. Overall, it was a good first session."
"We went over some exam prep (looking over electron configuration, sub-atomic composition, and atom theory). The student had a few questions, but these were ironed out. I gave him a strategy for answering math problems. He was open, courteous, and receptive. He has his quarterly tomorrow. I look forward to his performance. He has shown marked improvement recently."
"Buoyed by her recent A, we started the next chapter so that the student can stay ahead! We began discussing bioinformatics, the Human Genome Project, shotgun sequencing, metagenomics, high throughput screening, proteomics, systems biology, and the analytics and technology used to support these new and advancing areas of research. We also discussed how these technologies are used, what kinds of research questions can be answered, and how these "in silico" studies are benefiting researchers. We also discussed how industries (like pharmaceutical companies) need these types of scientists and what they can do."
"We covered glycogen phosphorylase, synthase and hormone signaling (insulin and glucagon), regulation of the glycogen pathway, enzyme intermediate products, phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of enzymes, and active sites enzymes."
