Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Covered capacitors and potential difference. She grasped everything I was saying and understood how to approach capacitor combination problems by the time we were done."
"We covered conservation of momentum and she worked through her homework assignment. We were very pressed for time (library closing), so we went at a much faster pace than I would like. Still good for a first session - we'll settle in quickly."
"- Work/potential energy/current electricity - No scores/grades - student wasn't struggling with anything - Student did not leave with extra practice - Student appears well-prepared for test."
"We discussed what issues the student has been having and I feel that reviewing and shoring up her knowledge of older material would help. We discussed 1D motion in detail. In general, it would probably be helpful to always draw a sketch of the problem, and create lists of what information is given and what information needs to be calculated. These lists can then be compared to the class's equation sheet to identify which equations are appropriate for solving the problem. It would be helpful for next session if she could go through old tests and identify problems that she had the most difficulty with. Next session we will probably focus on force diagrams."
"Today we covered waves: drawing wave displacement as a function of time and as a function of x. We studied interference of waves by summing displacements. Finally, we reviewed wave refraction and an analogy with a marching band which walks from the region of high speed to a region of low speed."
"We studied electrostatic and electric potential for physics and went over the student's last test which she got ~21/25. We also worked on the limit problems suggested by her teacher as the trigonometry test prep."
