Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we covered geometry. Topics included solving for arc angles of tangent-secant and secant-secant situations. Theorems including these angles were used successfully. We also solved several problems relating to parallel secant in a circle. The student is solving the problems in the homework mostly on her own. She even completely solved a gigantic problem that required determining 19 different angles in a complicated polygon. Strategies included in this session were all related to secant-secant and tangent secant arc angle theorems."
"The student has a quiz at the end of this week. He felt like he had a solid grasp on the material they had covered so far, so we looked ahead to the two remaining lessons before the quiz on circles. The sections contained a lot of new concepts and vocab. It took him a while to digest and become familiar with everything, but by the end he was doing much better."
"The student and I reviewed the test she took last week. The majority of the mistakes were calculation errors and simple mistakes. We discussed how she was feeling with pyramids and prisms. I felt she was very comfortable with this new material. I looked at her worksheets to help me optimize what we will work on next session. I assigned her to rework her test without my presence, and to focus on her prisms quiz tomorrow."
"We reviewed for the student's test. The challenging part of this test is remembering the properties that are associated with a square, rhombus, rectangle and trapezoid. We discussed each of these properties and worked on problems that she was given."
"We worked on a review for a test on solving right triangles. we used the Pythagorean theorem, Sine, Cosine and Tangent ratios, Pythagorean triples, 30-60-90 and 45-45-90 triangle relationships. We also worked on problems involving angle of elevation and depression. At the end of the session I gave her a practice test to work on. The session was great."
"Today was a fairly laid back session with the student. We started by reviewing his most recent test, and going over the questions he missed. He did a much better job doing them a second time, with much more command over the material. After, we reviewed some of his material from his latest chapter in class to reinforce any missed lessons. And finally, I helped his brother answer some questions that he had about geometry."
