Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I worked on her third stats assignment for this course. We talked about how to work out a test to determine if there is a difference between means from 2 independent populations. She also reported that she received an 84 on the last assignment which is well within the range she was hoping for and is an improvement over the 80 on the previous assignment."
"Today we worked on problems involving inscribed angles and objects in a circle and were asked to find angle measurements, arc measurements, and the area in certain cases. We used properties such as angle = 1/2 (big arc-little arc), angle = 1/2(big arc+little arc), and a = (1/2) arc."
"The student and I began with a review of the circumference and area functions for the basic shapes (such as circles and squares). We also reviewed her graded work. We then discussed multiples, parent functions, transformations, roots of functions, and multiplying fractions. She is beginning to understand more as we study. She is still making progress and is putting forth a very genuine effort to learn the material."
"We covered Newton's laws and solved about 12 problems related to them. We are ahead of schedule covering this area. The student did well and will be able to master the area when her instructor covers the material."
"We reviewed for the student's test. He had review problems to do involving volume, trig substitution, and integration with partial fractions. He has gotten much better with this, and I advised him to keep practicing up until his test."
"We started with a review of last week's lesson on basic antiderivatives, including and especially when and how to apply a method of presupposing a known derivative and integrating both sides and working backwards to get an answer. Then we covered this weeks material of Riemann sums and sum notation."
