Miriam ...in Haiti as an undergrad. I would love to accompany other students on their quest for good writing, as I have experienced how important good writing skills are to motivate change and make important point known. By nature, and my swim students can attest to this, I am an enthusiastic teacher. I think learning is awesome, and I make sure my students feel the same way. I like breaking down topics until they become intuitive,...

Cate ...tutoring sessions. I want to help you or your child feel the same sense of excitement towards learning that I have! In my free time, I like to play video games, paint, cook, do free-hand embroidery, and work in my garden. I have a small dog and a large cat who I love to play with! My favorite books are the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling and Echo by Francesca Lia Block.... I believe that it's important to really get to know my students and how they feel most comfortable learning. I want to create a space where students feel free to ask questions or admit that they need more help with something. There is nothing better than that moment where it all clicks and a student gains a sense of excitement and accomplishment in their studies!

Andrea ...When I'm not studying grammar, I like to play the violin and guitar, watch Disney movies, bingewatch my favorite TV shows (Doctor Who, Star Trek, Once Upon a Time, The Librarians), read (Harry Potter, Percy Jackson), and write. I also have the travel bug; I have visited 7 European countries and also studied abroad in Rome in 2014. After school, I really hope to intern at Walt Disney World and eventually work there.... I know that no two students are alike, but I have had a lot of teachers and can imitate many different teaching methods. I also like to think outside the box, so every one of my students will be a fun challenge!

Dane I get that writing essays and studying for midterms is rarely interesting, but it's my goal to make tutoring sessions as fun as possible. As a Senior Literature and History double major at Yale, I have a wide breadth of knowledge in a lot of different subjects, and I'm happy to share my knowledge in any of them!... I get that not everybody wants to spend their free time working on Calculus problems, but if a student has decided to get a tutor, either because they think they could use the extra help, or just because they want to get ahead in school, I think that's amazing, and I'd like to do my best to make their work as fun as possible.

Caroline I like teaching one-on-one sessions because it is an effective and rewarding learning format. I search for different ways to help my students achieve progress. The underlying, essential goal in teaching the French language is to establish in my students an ongoing interest and desire to learn. There is never a reason to get embarrassed or ashamed. I am here to help and motivate you! If there is a desire, there is a way!... I always assess where their needs and interests lay, and I encourage them in that direction, giving them plenty of tools to use.
Khardiata Teaching and tutoring are my passion because they give me the opportunity to have a positive impact on my students' learning experiences as I help them reach their full potential. My experiences as a French Teacher's Assistant at Carleton College and a Summer Science Teacher at Breakthrough-Minneapolis have taught me to utilize different tutoring and teaching techniques to accommodate students with different learning styles. I look forward to working with you!
