Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, we reviewed the student's most recent test on logarithms and exponents. We covered how to deal with square roots when embedded in a logarithmic function. Towards the end of the session, we covered how to plot logarithmic transitions."
"Today we reviewed for the student's precalculus quiz which is covering quadratic functions, polynomial functions of higher degrees, imaginary numbers, and imaginary roots. She had a good grasp on all of these concepts. We spent time working on solving by u-substitution and completing the square, and a little reviewing imaginary numbers. We also spent a little time getting ahead on physics - particularly projectile problems."
"We covered many questions involving imaginary numbers (i) and complex numbers. Noticed some small errors the student made while solving problems not related to the concepts themselves (ex: missing a negative symbol, adding instead of multiplying) and gave tips on how to prevent or catch those errors from popping up again."
"Since the student didn't take the make up exam earlier this week, he wanted to go over the material again and make sure he was ready for the exam. We worked through problems related to rational zeros theorem, parabolas and inverse (and composite) functions. He seemed comfortable with most of the material, except for graphing function, but once we practiced graphing functions it seemed that he grasped the concept very well."
"Today we reviewed the last exam the student took. After reviewing the exam with him, it was clear to me that he needed to do practice before the exam and pay attention to small details. I recommended him to ask his teacher if she can let him retake the exam. We also went through some homework problems. He is very brilliant student but he needs to do lots of practice and show commitment. The key to learning math is practice. I told him to do lots of practice and that would make a noticeable difference. The session was a win. The student realized his weakness and he will work on it."
"The student did well tonight! We spent majority of the night going over what was going to be on her test, having to do with trig functions and proofs. She did well on the group test and was nervous about the individual test. She knew the graphs well but struggled on the proofs. She also had material on the unit circle. By the end of the session, she felt confident about the material and I think she was ready for the exam!"
