Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This week we covered many of the student's old exams, working through problems she found tricky. In particular, we worked on verbal/word problems, as well as the relationships between fractions, decimals, and percentages."
"I worked on creating examples for the student to have a better understanding of GCF, LCM, and Prime Factorization. He will be able to use these examples to help him with his homework on non tutor days. I also prepared problem sets for us to work on to master these mathematical concepts."
"This session was spent reviewing Volumes and Surface Areas for the student's test. He seems to have a much better understanding on the purpose and importance of units and their role in determining what variable should be solved for. His confidence in mathematics is increasing and he has a consistent willingness to learn. Strategies discussed included, writing out his work, determining givens from the problem statement, and unit analysis."
"The student and I finished the small amount of homework she had, then went on to a discussion of the unit circle, trig functions, and quadratic equations. Her ability to grasp these advanced concepts is impressive."
"I reviewed with the student her homework in chapter 11.2. I helped her to go through the new materials in 11.3 and walked her through the textbook problems. We also solved a challenge question in 11.3 practice together to help her warm up to the new materials to be covered next week. She is very positive to the materials she's reviewing. She understands the concepts quite well, and just would need to practice more to get familiar with different question types."
"We went over some material that she was confused about that they've been covering for the state exam. She got a 100% on her math quiz on scientific notation, which is what we worked on at the previous session. Today we did triangles and a few tricks on how to remember slope. We also briefly covered variables."
