"I helped the student with a little math, and then he and I prepared for his Literature and History test tomorrow."
"Animal diversity, the concept of gene regulation, homeoboxes and Hox genes, and another review of signal transduction to include the importance of gene regulation; brief look at body systems; a detailed review of the aerobic respiration, including glycolysis and electron transport chain as an advanced review for the AP exam"
"The student and I worked on her homework for the night. We mostly worked on her spelling homework, and she was able to finish some math, too. The student and I talked about the benefits of using a planner, and working on her handwriting so she can get faster at writing and taking notes."
"The student and I continued working on DO and IO pronouns, as well as the preterite tense; irregular and stem changing verbs in the past tense. He will work on pronouns, past tense and gustar over the weekend."
"The student and I covered double angle formulas today. We did many problems showing the relationship between what he has learned so far and applying them to new situations. He seems to understand when and why he is supposed to use these formulas."
"Today's tutoring session started with Spanish. The student had to write an essay for class about Christmas celebrations in Ecuador. She had done some research and she put together the essay with proper sentence structure and flow. It had to be around 200 words long. She looked up words to use such as originarse, pesebre (cradle/manger), oracion (prayer), Noche Buena (Christmas Eve), and del mismo modo (similarly- transition word). The next part of our tutoring we went over her Bio Lab questions: Meiosis crossing over in Sordaria. Including the definition of Philadelphia chromosome and mutations as a result of crossing over."
"The student and I began with reviewing her homework on areas of polygons. She had no trouble at all with these problems. Then we studied for her test on the Pythagorean theorem and parallel line geometry. I found some tough example problems in the book, and she was able to complete these quickly and accurately, so I believe she will do well on her test."
"This session the student and I took a break from math (he got a 98% on his last test!) and we focused on grammar. He is learning about how all of the different parts of speech fit into sentences and work together. This week we focused on subjects and predicates, including simple subjects and simple predicates, complex subjects and complex predicates, and complete subjects and complete predicates. He understood the concepts fairly well when we started, and by the end of our session he was very comfortable with all of them and could identify them easily."
"Corrected Unit 5 Test Algebraic Expressions/Equations -Math review: FOIL, trinomials, multiplying fractions with binomials in numerator and denominator -Staying organized when solving problems -Final is on Thurs.

"We began factoring, which is often tricky for students. The student had a lot of good questions, both on the homework and as we went over new material."
"We went over magnetism. Mostly we worked on the right hand rule because many students struggle with that aspect of magnetism. We went over the information in the chapters and then did all the odd problems in the end of the chapter in addition to conceptual questions."
"The student was very energetic today! I had gone online and tried to find some new ways to teach her how to read and I thought they sounded really good! She did do very well with flashcards again, and she seems to enjoy them a lot!"
