Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on division, practicing word problems and methodology. We also talked a bit about repeating numbers and concepts of infinity and number properties. She is very inquisitive and it is a pleasure to work with her. She is clearly understanding the material better--long division was a big obstacle a few weeks ago but it seems much more natural now."
"Finished a homework assignment, fixed on one returned homework, and worked on current homework. This included basic factoring, factoring using the ac method, and solving parabola application problems."
"The student and I started with some test corrections for a recent test on complex numbers. We moved on to looking at synthetic division. I showed him an example of finding the other two roots of a cubic from a given root using synthetic division. We finished with some practice problems on algebra using square roots."
"Today was our first session. Overall, we had a very productive class where we were able to cover more than we first anticipated. Our main focus for today was to practice some problems that the student wanted to go over before having her exam on the following day. Given that it mainly focused on material that she had already learned, our review went very well. After the review, we moved onto some topics in Algebra that the student wanted to focus on. Based on her preference, we practiced some questions that gave her trouble. After some problem solving and advice here and there, the student seemed pleased with her new found knowledge. She has creative ways to tackle various math problems."
"Today we worked on his over-weekend homework on normal bell curve. It was mostly about the last topic we studied z-scores, probabilities, standard deviation and mean intervals. There were real world problems we have solved related by normal bell curve. And he did most of the questions without getting help only on couple questions he needed a couple clues about the problem. After that we started working on SAT Math he will be taking in May. There was specific information about SAT he needed to know about that we went over, and we did 15 practice problems to see what are his weaknesses and strengths."
"Today's session covered a brief recap/review on the topics covered last week (factoring quadratic equations). In addition, we covered solving simultaneous equations consisting of at least one non-linear equation and word problems on quadratic equations. The student has an excellent grasp on the all the concepts covered today."
