Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over her review for an exam. The review focused almost entirely on quadratic equations: solving them using the quadratic formula, graphing them, how the graph changes if we change the function, etc. By the end of the review, she seemed to understand the concepts pretty well."
"Today we went over the student's test and began working on solving systems of equations. I would like to cover organization of work in addition to the method and logic behind solving problems. We finished the session by previewing the method of solving systems of equation by substitution of variables."
"The student brought a lot of practice tests. We went over as many problems as we could while she is preparing to take the exam. This will be great practice. We also went over her online homework."
"During this session we covered inequalities with absolute values. The student was able to go through the process without much issue. Similar to regular inequalities, it is important to identify the simple steps, and what '>' or '<' mean in a graph. The simplest way to start an absolute value inequality, as we identified, was by graphing the center, and then finding the end points from there. When reviewing previous materials, it is important to remember to simplify. He started with a three variable equation that was not easy to solve, but removing one variable first (the description stated A=B+10) we were able to further simplify it to have only one variable, and thus, be able to solve it."
"The student finished his homework on triangle angle theorems. He understands the concept completely and he was able to finish his homework quickly. We then played a game online which involved answering math questions in order to rank to the next level. He is very smart and he is able to pick up new concepts very quickly."
"We worked on how to find terms in a geometric series and how to write the general formula. We also calculated sums of finite geometric series. We reviewed for the student's upcoming test on functions, domain and range. She had already completed most of the review sheet correctly."
