Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I completed Module 3 of 4 for his online Spanish course - writing assignments, practice, grammar, voice activities, quizzes, etc. We also reviewed for the unit exam; and he will complete it on his own later today. He is to begin Module 4 tomorrow, finishing with his final exam by next Thursday. Topics covered: tener, ser and estar, occupations, family vocab, Hispanic cultural traditions, likes and dislikes using gustar, possessive pronouns, etc."
"In our session today we focused on conversational Spanish. We practiced common greetings, questions, answers, and travel conversation. We used world maps to discuss geography and travel experiences. For our next session, we will do oral practice centered on daily life. The student had questions regarding masculine and feminine nouns and adjectives. We made a short grocery list for a fruit salad recipe, and we will have a Spanish immersion lesson on how to prepare the recipe together at our next session."
"This evening we completed another online lesson that dealt with proper conjugation of verbs and pronouns. We worked just fine through the exercises. At the end he had to do an oral recording of a few sentences. I say the sentences first and then have him repeat after me so he gets the correct pronunciation down before recording himself."
"The student has challenges with spoken Spanish, but can understand most of what is said. I want to begin practicing auditory Spanish with her as soon as possible. The extra practice for her is to pick 15 vocabulary words from the lists I gave her and learn/practice them. She will be showing me her progress at the beginning of the next session, by speaking the words."
"We reviewed vocabulary, conjugating present tense verbs, and indirect object pronouns. We have one more session left where we will continue our review of verb conjugations to include the future tense."
"The student and I read Act 2 of La Casa de Bernarda Alba and discussed the major themes and important symbolic elements of the piece so far. Next week we will go over the final act. I would also like to find a way for us to watch the play together to get a better appreciation of its theatrical elements."
