Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I used Spanish vocabulary cards, and exercises from a practice Spanish book, that he had purchased. He learned the use of new words, and practiced listening comprehension. Included with the Spanish book he purchased, were CD's, that have listening sections, with a series of questions. He will continue to master listening comprehension, throughout the summer and the next school year."
"For this session, the student and his parents let me know that they bought the Spanish II text that I recommended. I went through most of the book marking the pages that we will be reviewing over the summer, and then began with the first few sections, along with vocabulary words. After memorizing and quizzing the student on the vocab, I introduced him to affirmative vs negative words, along with the differences between saber and conocer, both Spanish words that mean "to know," but with different contexts. Overall, the session went great, and the student demonstrated a good understanding of the concepts we worked on during the session."
"The student had a two-day, comprehensive final in the coming week that covered material from both 7th and 8th grade. We developed a study regimen that the student would use in the days leading up to the exam, wherein he would dedicate an hour to reviewing grammar, vocabulary, and writing. I shared this regimen with his mother. The student then practiced writing paragraphs, and we reviewed 7th grade vocabulary."
"We discussed our respective goals for working together. The student demonstrated her proficiency in basic paradigms, and helpfully pointed out areas she wanted to learn more about (especially word order and the sequence of tenses). I explained some core grammatical concepts, and explained some correspondence rules linking Spanish with Latin cognates in English."
"We covered nouns and how to distinguish between female and masculine nouns and how to make nouns plural. We also went through the numbers 1-1000 and worked on pronunciation of common foods and food related vocab."
"Today the student and I worked on relatives pronouns : qui and que . We also worked on the pronouns y and en. The student completed multiple exercises."
