"We covered graphing radical functions, using properties of logarithms, and finding the discriminant. We began by covering the discriminant, which the student already had down really well. After she saw a discriminant problem handling a variable, she was able to solve any problem involving discriminant that I gave her. Next we moved on to graphing radical functions, which she could also do very well by the end of the session. Finally we moved onto the properties of logarithms which we spent the most time on. She was able to walk me through log problems and tell me what to do in order for us to solve the problems. She is now a log solving pro, and by the end of the session could solve any I threw at her. I showed her some strategies to problems that she understood and used them to solve her problems. Good luck on your quiz on Monday, you should do great!"
"Covered a review that was assigned to student. It covered derivatives, mean value theorem, and related rates. Student struggled only with related rates and I will be assigning homework on that for next session. Student received a 14/15 on quiz and is doing well in the class. Today's session was dictated by the student and went extremely well."
"The student and I looked at his work from math class again, as we had focused on his college essay and SAT. He had trouble solving certain equations involving radicals, but I think he improved by the end of the meeting. He and I also looked at an outline he had been working on for an essay for his English class."
"I covered with the student (1) Hypotheses testing, (2) How to calculate confidence intervals and how to make inferences from them."
"The student had to prepare for an exam and wanted to cover a few problem sets. We covered measures of central tendency, measures of spread, calculating z-scores."
"We covered part of chapter 15, which developed definitions and vocabulary from chapter 14, including margin of error, power, significance level, confidence intervals, etc."
