Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked through solving simultaneous equations, exponential functions, and practice ACT questions involving trigonometric functions. She was urged to continue plowing through as many practice problems as possible in order to develop speed."
"We went over problems relating to handling exponentiation. We are preparing for a test which is this upcoming Thursday. The difficulty centered around remembering the rules for transforming and simplifying terms that have exponents. We drilled on the application of these rules and did the problems and reviewed a past quiz. She had a good understanding at the end of the session."
"Today, the student had several worksheets he wanted to work on together. We were able to get many problems done on each packet. He was able to not only practice problems with drive, but neatly write his work in an organized manner."
"Today we talked about multiplying by fractions, then moved on to multiplying by fractions in larger expressions in order to solve for a variable, x. The student caught on to multiplying a number by a fraction pretty quickly today, which was heartening. For the rest of the session, I would just give him an equality to solve, and I increased the complexity of the equalities as we went along."
"The student missed some school, so we focused on getting her caught back up with different types of factoring. We worked problems including factoring by grouping, factoring with numbers in front of the x squared, factoring perfect square trinomials, and factoring the difference of squares. She took the longest time with the numbers in front of x squared, but was able to get the correct answer. We discussed ways she could guess and check her factors to make it easier on her."
"We went over 25 problems covering subtracting and adding fractions containing multiple variables. The student would identify the common denominators and determine how best to calculate them. He did well with these."
