"We did a global review of the Reading section, going over our tips and strategies, then working practice sections together and individually."
"The student & I worked on the writing and critical reading sections of the SAT. We went over multiple practice sections for each part of the test."
"During this session, the student and I went over his homework from last session and worked on the writing section, focusing on sentence improvement and error identification. For homework, we went through the Math section. He is definitely becoming more familiar with a broad scope of topics, and he is doing a great job with test-taking strategy, leaving questions blank instead of answering incorrectly. He is getting more confident in identifying helpful shapes, so we will turn our focus to the questions that require critical thinking and abstract application of theory (e.g. if f(-x) = f(x), then the function must be symmetric). He has two timed Math sections for homework. We went over his essay, which was well-structured and included all necessary components. I was happy to see that he made a rudimentary outline, and also to hear that he didn't feel rushed within the time constraints. As far as things to work on, his addition of adjectives to his thesis added unnecessary complexity to his essay. Also, he clearly didn't proofread, which resulted in some incorrect prepositional usage as well as missing words. We discussed the importance of proofreading, especially since it only takes about a minute and a half to read through an essay completely enough to pick out obvious errors. I left him with a writing section on passage improvement for homework."
