Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, we did a global review of all the subject guides and outlines we made throughout our tutoring sessions. We also started our thorough review of the English section."
"Today, we began by reviewing vocabulary words assigned to the student last week. He is still struggling with vocabulary, so after reviewing the words we went over prefixes and suffixes commonly seen on the SAT. Then we moved on to sentence completions and verbal passages. After this, the student completed some writing sections under time constraints. We only worked on Math for twenty minutes, but we worked on the most difficult problems of a section because math is his best sections. I left him with verbal passages for next week."
"Today, the student and I went over her practice sessions that she had for homework. She's showing me now that she understands most of the SAT math concepts, and she is now pushing through problems that initially seem challenging. What has been the most challenging part of the Math portion for the student is that she often misreads the problem or makes a small errors in solving the problem. Fortunately, this is a pretty easy fix. The other problem areas that I'm seeing are some of the function problems and the 3-D geometry questions. I'm going to try and find some specific problems next week for her to work on. We then went through several more sections of math and we went through the answers together. I was really glad to see that she got 100% correct on our very last set, which is the confidence boost that I think she needed. I left her with 3 more Math sections for homework. As she's progressing, I think that the best thing she can do now is to cram in as many practice sessions as possible before she takes the test. The student is progressing really well, and I look forward to our next session."
