Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we reviewed grammar for French using the book we ordered online. There were exercises in the book that I made the student do and correct; and more explanations on this topic for reinforcement of last week's lesson on this same topic. I also quickly reviewed her last test with her. She is still spelling according to the sounds that she hears, instead of using both sound and grammatical function of word (part of speech) to determine how a word should be spelled. I have outlined 6 new spelling and grammatical areas which she needs to study. She needs to become very detail-oriented and take her time when taking a test. She needs to carefully review all of her spelling before turning a test in."
"We went over the superlative and comparative. I introduced him to the concept using PowerPoint presentations and modeled the skill for him using several examples. We did a few examples together, then he did an exercise from his workbook which I checked. I gave him a worksheet which he did correctly and I checked. To end our lesson, we did a few oral examples to check for understanding."
"The student and I started our session by continuing to work on writing the alphabet and pronouncing it in both French and English. We did the same thing with numbers 1-20 and then read a book called Elmer the Elephant; although the book is in English we incorporated French into it too! The student enjoyed it! Then we did an activity related to the book where the student was able to decorate her own Elmer and then she started coloring a background for where he lives. The student does very well in both the French and English languages."
