"The student has a test tomorrow so we covered material that she will be tested on. This included proportions, percentages, and rates. The student had a good grasp of proportions and rates and finding them using a table. After reviewing the problems a few times, she was confident in them."
"During this session, the student and I finished reviewing the section on logarithmic functions/transformations which we had started the previous session. We then spent some time reviewing long and synthetic division of polynomial equations as well as Descartes' rule of signs."
"The student and I spent most of our time on Algebra 2, working on solving 4 equation systems. She did them all fine after we went over the two different methods to solve systems. We did spend a lot of time on one problem, before we realized that she had copied the equation wrong, which hurt everything else. All her math was right though. We spent the last bit of time working on chemistry. She needed work on balancing combustion reactions, so we did a few of the more difficult ones to get used to it. Once we established those rules, she got it."
"We went through his worksheet. It was about fractions, LCD and finding the equivalent fractions by using the LCD. I reviewed the concept once more and I asked him to solve to questions by himself. I was watching him to make sure he is doing well. Then we covered his homework as well. He understood how he has to solve them and he is doing well."
"The student and I reviewed her most recent math test and addressed the problems she was having. We went over using trig identities to simplify equations and solve for given theta values. The student is great at doing the actual work, she just needs to devote more time to memorizing and becoming familiar with the trig identities as well as the Unit Circle."
"We reviewed metrics and covered solving equations in preparation for his upcoming exam. I gave him a few extra problems that covered solving for the unknown variable. He successfully solved for all the unknowns."
"In our session, we went over some problems concerning areas and volumes of different 2d and 3d shapes, transversals, and polar coordinates. The student has weekly quizzes which give him a little trouble. We used our session to go over all the concepts that will be on the quiz. He told me the areas he was having trouble with and we went over problems from his problems set to address those problems. He was doing a great job. I helped write a study guide for his weekly quiz."
"For our session today, we studied for the student's mid-unit assessment which was about fractions. We reviewed prime/composite numbers; equivalent fractions, estimating fractions, and simplest form. I found that he was having some issue with remembering all of the factors of a number, so we reviewed divisibility rules again. I also reminded him to check his work twice when he was working on his test. We reviewed how to truly know that a number was in simplest form. I find that the student knows the concepts very well, but his execution of the concepts sometimes are rushed. Today was a great session and I am confident that he will do really well on his test!"
"During this session, the student and I reviewed her three times tables. I showed her the tic-tac-toe method for figuring out her three times tables and we did some online practice with these numbers. She and I then reviewed her four times tables by doing online activities and multiplication drills."
"Today we worked on finding slope of a line various ways and prepared for her a quiz. We practiced finding slope by using two points and y-y/x-x, using the line on a graph to count rise over run, and using a table to calculate slope by identifying the change in y over the change in x. We solved and answered word problems that compared two different slopes. We wrote equations from word problems and plotted points on the graph to create a line with a positive or negative slope."
"Covered linear expressions , continuation of simplification, word problems involving perimeters and variable lengths of shape sides. We also touched on how to distribute numbers. We'll have a follow-up session tomorrow to help the student prepare for his test on Thursday."
"We reviewed the definite integral and approximating the definite integral using area, working several problems. The student can do these problems pretty well, only occasionally making small computational errors and I would recommend he continues practicing these problems."
