"The student and I covered long division of polynomials, synthetic division, ways to check her work, and that she has to watch her signs."
"The student and I worked on a test review over rational functions, complete factorization, and how to find zeros for higher degree polynomials."
"We worked on a review sheet with systems of equations and tangent lines. The student did not struggle with the material. Her attitude was positive throughout the session. I included strategies for simplifying certain concepts and remembering formulas."
"I worked with the student on the practice test and review for the semester test. We concentrated on trigonometry today, and he seems to be up to date on his recall of the important topics from trig. I expect him to do very well on the semester exam."
"In today's session, we covered conics, specifically parabolas, hyperbolas, and ellipses. For every conic, we first started by breaking down the formulas to understand exactly what to look for. The student is very sharp and picked up the concepts rather quickly. I did an example problem from each section, and from there, he was able to solve most of the problems with little assistance. I asked him questions along the way, and I also asked him why it was that answer so that he not only knew how to find the answer but also how to look at the solution and notice if something didn't look right. He always has a great attitude toward the material. Once he understands the concepts and how to set up problems, he does very well."
