Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked mainly on science and math today. She's already improved her science score by 9 points. She has some homework for the next week."
"Today the student tried a new approach that was both more engaging than timed tests and which focused on the student's weaknesses. We spend the first half of our session going over vocabulary sections of the SAT together, since the student is great at critical reading but doesn't know all the vocab. This was very useful, as we maximized exposure to vocabulary in a short time (6 sections worth in an hour). For the second half of the session we went over math, but instead of a timed session I went through with the student and had her explain exactly what a problem wanted and what information it provided. This strategy seemed to be effective and the student is getting used to consciously asking herself what they're asking of her."
"Today was our first tutoring session so we started with a diagnostic. The student is taking the exam in a couple of weeks. She is strong in math and science. After she took the diagnostic, we discussed a strategy for the next sessions and went over basic concepts of the SAT: scoring, guessing, etc."
