Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had a new practice worksheet. He demonstrates good mastery of previously covered problem topics and I showed him how to do a few new problems types. Example, the setup of a problem using information on a 2 digit number (the sum of the digits is x and the difference in the number when the digits are reversed is y). There was a factoring problem of a difference in x and y raised to high number exponents with a common factor. The student continues to demonstrate improved math performance and it will be interesting to see how he does on his next test."
"Today the student completed an assessment for Domain 2: Operations and Algebraic Thinking. She also completed the assessment quicker than the previous because she memorized her multiplication tables. We spent time working on her homework assignment, Multiplying fractions and Multiplying fractions with whole numbers. She understood the concept, so I went back and taught her multiplication of greater numbers. I left her with practice problems for the following concepts, Multiplication of greater number, Multiplying fractions and Multiplying fractions with whole numbers."
"Today we started working on rational expressions. The student had a good understanding of the basics so we worked a few more complicated problems involving complex factoring and reasoning. He progressed well through the homework problems and more complicated practice problems."
"We reviewed the student's homework assignments, again emphasizing the importance of going through problems more methodically and giving herself the time she needs to effectively solve."
"The student had her math exam today and said that she felt very confident and that she knew how to answer all the questions. We worked on her weekly review worksheet. We will need to review how to take square roots of non-perfect squares - especially since they will begin covering the Pythagorean Theorem soon. We went ahead in her lesson packet and covered the next two sections of triangles - exterior angle theorem and finding missing angles of isosceles triangles. She understands the concepts very well."
"The student and I went over his test that he received an 87 on. He has been doing significantly better in math. We then went over his Spanish to review for his test the next day. I helped him with sentences and memorizing the vocabulary."
