Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed her assignments to see how we could improve her time allocation. We also looked over some practice sections from the SAT."
"The student took the ACT math section. She scored very highly (30-32 range). Her scores all seem to be improving, so I will review a new section every lesson in addition to a writing section each lesson."
"Prior to this session I had asked the student to develop five arguments in response to five different prompts. I had asked her to do one paragraph on each rather than a full essay. We used these to explore what aspects of argumentation and example development she found easiest or most time-consuming within the time limit of the test. She has shown progress in the amount of development that she gives each argument. The main area in which she still has room for improvement is balancing the need to develop her argument with the need to avoid generalizations and vague language. However, she was eager to discuss strategies and terms that she can use to more effectively strike that balance. As her last assignment focused on essay preparation, I asked her to work on developing eight examples of specific types that correlate with the major themes of common SAT prompts and to keep notes as she develops each example. With the last few minutes of our session, we reviewed some Geometry, per the student's request."
