Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Focused on piecewise defined functions, defining domain and range, and parent functions. The student had a quiz the next day so we prepared for material expected on that quiz."
"Worked on the student's homework. Planned to meet on Sunday to continue studying for the test on Monday."
"The student and I continued reviewing domain, end behavior, asymptotes of functions. We practiced graphing rational functions and used the sign-table method."
"The student had a worksheet assignment for homework that consisted of 5 problems involving matrices. He had already correctly solved the first three, which dealt with matrices as straightforward problems. The two remaining problems were word problems, which he was unsure how to transform into numerical problems. Once I helped him turn the word problems into equations, he was able to solve them mostly independently. Once he finished his homework, I helped him begin to study for the math section of the ACT."
"The student and I worked on finding the six trig ratios using the unit circle and a degree measure. We talked a little about where the unit circle comes from and how it is useful when finding the trig ratios. We practiced drawing the reference triangle and went over a couple of ways to approach each problem. We also discussed the difficulties when having a 30-60-90 triangle and ways to check answers. He seemed good with the process, but the overall picture needs to be emphasized a little more."
"The student has a test soon, so today we reviewed what we had covered previously. We went over the limit definition of the derivative, properties of derivatives, the power rule, the product rule, the quotient rule, and the chain rule. I also reviewed his homework, which covered the product rule, the quotient rule, and the chain rule."
