Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We did a variety of problems from past examinations. Topics included solving differential separable differential equations, the fundamental theorem of calculus. The intermediate value theorem, relating the displacement, velocity, acceleration, and speed using the integral and derivatives. The student's attitude was positive and I left him some more questions from past examinations to be done."
"The student's teacher gave him some problems to work over right triangles using trigonometry. He worked those problems. Then we reviewed reflections, translations, rotations and tessellations. He is taking a test tomorrow over those transformations. He did well on transformations."
"Review of unit circle. Introduction of Sine and Cosine rules and use in completing range and bearing problems, derivation of Pythagorean Identity and use of sine and cosine rules to derive double angle identities (sin2x, cos2x)."
"The student and I are staying 2-3 lessons ahead of what she is learning in school. She has a great understanding of how fractions can be compared, added, and subtracted. We are now ending each session with a game that drills computation skills, and today, I let her make it up."
"At first, we reviewed a test from the student's classroom teacher on adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers. We corrected the problems she missed, and she realized the mistakes she made. Next, we reviewed multiplying fractions and mixed numbers. She was able to solve the problems and write the answers in their simplest forms with very minimal assistance. Her class just started dividing fractions. I demonstrated a few problems and had her solve a few problems on her own. She was able to solve the problems correctly without assistance. Finally, we reviewed some multiplication facts. She continues to demonstrate a very positive attitude and seems to be making very good progress."
"Student 1 had more dividing with decimals for her math homework, this time in word problems. Her word study sentences were quick and easy. Student 2 had spelling definitions and more metric system work for math."
