Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered circles, practicing problems that included tangents, radius, diameter, and arcs. We also reviewed the remainder of chapter 9, which covered dilations (enlargement and reduction). The student caught on to the material very quickly and seems to understand all the topics that we have covered so far. Her geometry exam was today, and she said that she felt that she did well."
"In this session we covered lateral and surface areas of polygons. I did not notice any major struggles, only small computational mistakes. The student has really improved in her understanding and application of the Pythagorean theorem and the special triangles. The latter helped the student navigate this lesson with ease. Overall, it was a great lesson."
"We covered more properties of quadrilaterals. Specifics included problems involving trapezoids. We also reviewed simplifying radicals."
"Today we worked on preparing for the student's upcoming quiz/test, continuing with the material from the last session. He continues to do well with the actual Geometry material but still struggles when problems call on topics from Algebra. When he is required to solve equations algebraically, particularly quadratic equations, he still needs a lot of guidance to see what he needs to do. We will continue to review this topic."
"The student and I worked on problems involving the altitude of right triangles, similar triangles and the Pythagorean Theorem."
"We finished the study guide about circles, inscribed angles, chords, secants, angle measurement and arcs. Then we worked on the latest chapter of Spanish vocabulary and the student made flash cards for those words."
