"We continued translating from Vergil's Aeneid. We translated approximately 20 lines of Latin, focusing on the grammar, vocabulary, literary devices, and so on. In addition to vocabulary, he needs to work on translation skills most of all. He still tends to ignore endings when translating, which will cause issues. We may work on diagramming sentences in the future in order to help with this."
"This was a great first session. The student is doing well with her linguistic course. She seems to be having a good grasp on the subject. I think this was a great opportunity to think out loud and work as a team in analyzing material. We covered ambiguous sentences, the difference between adjunct (optional part of sentence) and complement (required often by verb, sometimes subject or object of verb), and the X-bar theory for Syntax tree. Keep up the good work."
"The session went very well. We did some translation from the Aeneid by Virgil. We ten went over a few grammar points. We are working on the student's midterm exam, which is in a couple of weeks and at the same time as her AP exam. I am going to send her some practice exercises for the midterm. She was happy with the session."
"Today we spent most of the session preparing the student for the AP Gov test. We went over his study guide and answered some practice true or false questions. Next, we worked on Spanish. I taught him the difference between indirect object and direct object pronouns, and the pronouns in Spanish. I taught him "SIODOV" as a way to remember the order of the pronouns. I also taught him the "le lo" rule. Finally, we went over his homework to practice these pronouns."
"The student and I reviewed subjunctive vs indicative tenses (present/ past/ conditional/ future). She understands the different mood tenses and when to apply them to each sentence. We used the online platform practice exam questions, which required the student to identify the proper verb tenses."
"We talked about what happened in chapter 17 of Don Quixote and answered questions about it. We already reviewed parts of chapter 16, such as the Arriero's reaction to DQ talking to Maritornes, and also some parts of chapter 8, 9, and 10, such as why DQ had trouble falling asleep (his ribs), whom he had been beaten up by (the Friars) and why."
