"The student and I worked on math today. Aside from a few concepts (usually exponents, order of operations or graphing) that are a little rusty, she's doing a great. I was very excited to see her figure out a difficult trig problem today  without me teaching her how to do it. She's very bright.
I would like her to use this long weekend to take a full practice exam, or at least time herself on a few of the sections. It would really give us a better idea of where she's at and what we need to work on."

"Today, I reviewed the second two portions of the timed test with the students. We did the reading comprehension section altogether. The students did about the same. We reviewed general strategies and talked about pacing, as they are not used to doing taking tests within the time limit. We made vocabulary notecards for novel vocabulary. For the math section, I worked with student 1 first. We reviewed the mistakes he made in order to find any weaknesses. This went pretty fast so we did three reading passages so he could apply the strategies we discussed. With student 2 I had two math sections to review. We realized that the 'miles per hour' questions and the algebra questions were a challenge for her. I left the twins with additional material to work on with their mother over the break."
"The student and I reviewed a reading passage that he completed over the course of the week as well as some English that he had done. We did some additional reading, math, and English practice. He got 100% on the reading and was very pleased. He continues to utilize the strategies I taught him for English. Math is not a problem for him unless he makes small errors. I suggested he do less work in his head and write more down. For next week he will complete some additional reading and science passages."
"The student and I began the review for his final exam. He was given a list of 50 questions that could potentially be on his exam and we went through each of the questions, researched the answer when appropriate, and reviewed key concepts. We plan to continue this on Wednesday in preparation for his final on Friday."
"We did some alphabet work, with vowel sounds and reading short words. I broke up the lessons with some matching and coloring, to keep his attention, but made sure he actually tried his best on the alphabet exercises. We concluded the session by reading some stories. I am thinking I will eventually get a book that he will read with me. This way, I can have him apply what he has been learning."
"We went over some of his homework, studying for his upcoming test. He made flashcards for terms, and we practiced identifying rational numbers and integers. He also needs to remember to keep track of negative signs. Then we went through more problems for the ISEE, focusing on timing."
"The student didn't have her textbook with her so we just went over her previous tests and quizzes to assess where she is at. She seems to have a good grasp of the concepts, but will make simple errors when she feels pressed for time and is stressed. We covered solving simultaneous equations, solving absolute value equations, determining if lines are perpendicular or parallel, and graphing."
"Spent the session on Algebra. Most of the time was spent on an Algebra project that included concepts of statistical analysis including mean, median, and linear regression. Once the project was understood, we moved on to quadratic solutions and finding the vertex and axis of symmetry of a quadratic function. This concept required some study of completing the square and manipulating algebraic equations."
"Looked over past SAT test, talked through strengths/weaknesses and strategies. Did Vocab Lesson #1 (10 words), outlined a hypothetical writing prompt and a practice reading section. Went over missed questions in reading section and strategies."
"We covered reading comprehension, vocabulary and sentence completion. She had a bit of difficultly in the sentence completion and vocabulary section so we spent more time on that part. We also covered some math concepts. I had some practice problems printed out for her so she worked on those."
