Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In preparation for the student's physics midterm, we worked through a practice midterm covering a variety of topics including waves, pendulums, resonance, sound, decibels, single/double slit diffraction, diffraction gratings, and constructive/destructive interference. She initially found this material to be challenging/intimidating, but after working through these problems together she was much more confident about all of these topics."
"We covered the rest of the topics list for the student's final: equilibrium, acid and base theory, and kinetics mechanisms. The student had a great attitude. The student is really smart and motivated and only needed me there to give practice questions and a little bit of guidance. She always has a great attitude and really works hard at learning and practicing."
"Today we worked on the ACS review, finishing up where we left off. This included a review of kinetic molecular theory, and an explanation of the deviations of the ideal gas law. We then went into a few thermochemistry problems and moved onto a few basic quantum mechanics problems."
"We went over evolution and population mechanics, as well as biochemistry, like protein signaling and receptors. We specifically worked on practice problems and went over how to systematically go through the questions and eliminate answers. The student is doing great, really understanding the concepts as well as understanding how to answer the problems. I think she is very ready for the AP exam."
"In today's session we started a new chapter on convection heat transfer. We discussed the basic fundamentals and then dove in to study forced convection in external flows, laminar convection in pipes, turbulent convection in pipes and finally internal flows with constant wall temperature condition. We also solved examples 12-1 through 12-4 for this chapter."
"We covered kinetics and battery. Mostly, the student needed help to connect information. The topics are covered in the class on the surface and the student was struggling to connect them from the basic scientific concept. This was overcome during this session."
