Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered reading and reading comprehension questions. He was struggling the most with remembering details from the book True Grit, which is very dense. We will continue to work on this. He had a really positive attitude towards the material and worked hard during our session."
"During this session we focused on letter compilations sounds, such as ei, ie, ew, ea, e_e, u_e, nk, ng, ed, tion, sion, dge, gh, and wh. The student is memorizing most of these sounds, which really has helped in his reading fluency."
"Today the student worked on reading fluency and comprehension. We used a story about a baseball game. He was able to read fluently for about half of the text. Words he should practice include: urged, league, through, though. Next time we will work on adjectives beyond words that describe colors as well as reading fluency and comprehension. Thanks!"
"Tonight we worked on a teacher-created study guide for "Julius Caesar." We discussed how to pinpoint answers to chronologically arranged questions."
"Today the student did not have homework, so we started with a fun activity/word game and focused on the spelling. She did well when I guided her through it. We also did multiplication drills and a released reading passage. Her reading comprehension and oral reading is very good. I think what we did today was a good routine for us. I'll be sure to bring more word activities for her."
"Today, the student answered many questions in the future tense and practiced using different forms of the future, such as the simple future and the future perfect. Then, she reviewed different forms of conditional sentences in the past, present, and future. Finally, she read a long scientific article from the New York Times."
