We covered solving problems with square roots and solving problems with the variable in the denominator, and solving graphing problems (linear). The student was struggling with the graphing. I think he needs a dedicated refresher on ordered pairs and linear equations. Strategies included taking small steps and checking the work and rereading the problem. We will continue to address this in future sessions.

Tutoring review by Junior in Loganville, GA
The student was given a 21-problem take-home test on positive and negative exponents and evaluating expressions containing exponents. At times, he has questions on the rules for exponents--when to add, subtract, or multiply them. I assured him that with more practice, his skills will improve. I let him work on his own and then corrected him on his errors. His final problem was to graph the equation y = 2^x by making a chart of values. Soon he will be preparing for the final exam.
