Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student asked for help writing a paragraph in Spanish about what he likes to do, his classes at school, and other things about himself. There was a list of questions that needed to be answered in paragraph form, so I had him answer them verbally before transcribing his response to a computer. He told me that he's been keeping up with Spanish class well!"
"I began this session by reviewing the student's homework with her. I had her read the sentences aloud and corrected any grammar mistakes. Overall, I made few corrections. After that I had her practice the present tense. I asked her two questions so she could practice her conversation skills. I then gave her a small introduction on the preterite tense and imperfect tense, and reviewed the preterite regular verb endings with her. After she practiced the preterite tense with a worksheet, I reviewed some kitchen vocabulary with her."
"The student has two big Spanish exams this coming week, an oral exam and a written test to cover chapters 10 and 11. This was session 1 of 2 this weekend that will cover that material. We covered the first half of the material in the first hour and the oral exam in the second hour. For the written exam, we covered the use of the "se" pronoun, preterite vs imperfect, formal and informal commands, and vocabulary use. For the oral exam, we covered the reading portion and the pronunciation and enunciation portion of the exam."
