Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We prepared for a quiz that the student has tomorrow. The quiz will cover simplifying radical expressions and solving radical equations. We really focused on breaking each problem down into simpler ideas. When you only address 1 part of the problem at a time, it becomes much easier. She grew more comfortable as we worked through her review sheet. She wanted some extra practice so I emailed some to her after our session."
"We reviewed for her upcoming exam on slope fields, differential equations, and u-substitution. We worked a lot of problems and she has a lot of examples that she can review. We talked about how to read the math textbook effectively for help and extra examples. I think she is well prepared for her exam."
"This session, the student and I covered the day's math lesson on sales tax, tips and commission. The lesson is basically the application of working with percentages. She does a great job when the information given to her is straight-forward (i.e. when she is given percent and total and must find the tax, tip or commission). Overall, we had a good session and will continue to work on these areas of improvement."
"The student and I worked on reviewing for her Algebra II final that is in a week. We went through a few different topics that would be on the exam. She was getting the material fully after going over the topics, and she made very neat notes to continue to study from. We also reviewed for her history final today."
"The student has a mid chapter test in chapter 9. We worked on many sample problems from the chapter and the review section. He practiced distinguishing what approach was needed for each problem. His math tools were how to determine probability of simple events, complementary events, create sample space with grids and tree diagrams, and to calculate perturbations for ordered prediction outcomes."
"The student is nearly finished getting her caught up with her math class. I think she is very prepared to take her first semester makeup final now."
