"Student 1 and I covered the new chapter 7 material, which involved percentage problems. We went over how to translate any percentage word problem into an algebraic expression for an easier way to solve the problems. He seemed to like this way and became adept at solving all the problems I gave him. I also worked with student 2 for a little bit to explain the coordinate geometry space and some order of operations before his upcoming assessment test."
"We went over how to set up integration using the Disk, Washer, and Shell Methods and did several practice problems of each. We also went over parametric equations and polar coordinates. For next time, I assigned problems on polar coordinates and limits."

"Today was my first session with the student. We worked on solving for the volume of disks and washers when rotating an area about an axis. We broke the problem into several cases, then worked through examples identifying where he was specifically having trouble. Then we created a procedure for how to approach these types of problems. It was very productive session and just a great first session. I gave him instructions on what to think about when doing his homework in preparation for an upcoming test."
"We began a new assignment over factoring higher order polynomials. This included complex roots. The student did great, so I didn't send her home with any homework."

We then began with parametric coordinate systems, which were the next topic in his coursework, and I tried to give him a solid foundation on why we care (graphs which are not functions, also some nice algebra) as well as what they are and how they work."

He had a lot of trouble interpreting the directions of these problems, in part because the examples from his notes were very barebones. I helped him understand the processes involved with both explanations and demonstrations, and by the time we finished, he was handling problems mostly on his own."
