"I helped the student get started on her summer reading/writing assignment. She read the book summaries from her list and marked her top choice. We read the assignment twice and discussed what each type of journal entry is and what it is not. We practiced a few types of journal entries using a different book."
"The student and I spent a good time going over a practice worksheet. We worked through mid point theorem and then applied to various problems. Some of the problems get very complicated as the worksheet went on but she did well with them. We also kind of explored similar triangles in conjunction with the mid point theorem."
"We went through his homework on factoring, then reviewed the chapter for his upcoming test. I also showed him a better strategy for factoring polynomials of the form Ax^2+Bx+C, which he found helpful."
"Today's session was primarily an introduction for both of us. We looked through her blackboard account so that I could become familiar with where her homework and classwork is listed. Since she had no outstanding homework for any subjects, we went over an old language arts assignment that dealt with editing a writing sample. Then we did several math games from a link on her blackboard account."
"Student 1: went through the homework on calculating trigonometric functions using the unit circle, reference angles, and 30-60-90 and 45-45-90 triangles. Student 2: reviewed coordinate geometry (how to find and the properties of the orthocenter, circumcenter, incenter, centroid)."
"Today we went over section 4.2, which introduced radians and their use as a measure in circles. We went over the conversion from radians to degrees and back, the arc length formula and the formula for the area of a sector of a circle. We reinforced all concepts by going over the problems with the section."
"The student and I worked on a citation based paper he has due on Friday for his Anthropology class. The paper entails citing a number of print and online journals as well as giving additional information on specific articles within those journals. I showed the student how to use Internet resources to properly cite a paper. After working with him directly to do the first two citations, the student was successfully able to do the remaining citations with little or no help from me, indicating that he learned the process and will be able to independently cite papers on his own in the future."
