"We continued to prepare for the student's upcoming test for his Statics class. We practiced on another problem involving water and dam. This involved the reaction of the dam to the static water body, and the support from ground to the dam system, both in terms of the magnitude and location of the forces. I explained why two methods are mathematically equivalent and how to give consistent answers. We then practiced on complex trusses and systems. With such practices and another one scheduled for Wednesday, he should do well on the test."
"The student and I finished discussing the terrestrial planets and began looking at the gas giants. She is starting to feel more comfortable with the material, and I think we are making great progress."
"We went over various science displays at the botanical garden dealing with topics such as renewable and nonrenewable energy sources, earth cycles, and food webs. The students participated in the different demonstrations and learned how energy, such as solar power, wind, and water, is used to do work in different ways."
