Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered slope-intercept form, determining perpendicular and parallel lines, and constructing such lines. Overall, he did a great job working to prepare himself for the next unit of material in his algebra course. He did well on the test he took two weeks ago and continues to become more engaged, more prepared, and more talented with math each week."
"This was our first session. We spent the majority of the time discussing different methods for solving quadratic equations such as factoring, the quadratic formula, and completing the square. The student had a good attitude and was very engaged throughout the session. He showed me his first test and first few quizzes. I think he made a lot of progress on completing the square, so we are going to review some previous material that will help with solving algebraic equations."
"The student and I worked through various forms of quadratic equations to prepare him for an upcoming test. He seems to have a good handle on the content and I was able to encourage him that he was doing well. We discussed the value of a graphing calculator for his ongoing studies in math. Overall, this was a great first session."
"The student is demonstrating understanding of the various methods for factoring and solving quadratic equations. He is able to solve the problems and with practice should develop skills and competency. He has grasped the use of the quadratic formula and is learning to use the completing the squares. I provided additional materials for review and practice."
"We covered fraction concepts (multiplying and dividing) and then went through algebra II concepts in an online program. The student has a tough time adding/ subtracting to both sides of an algebraic expression. His father wants to find ways to create motivation, which may include finding careers where math is applicable."
"Yesterday, the student and I had our first session for algebra 1. We covered factoring, with coefficient a = 1, a /= 1, and foiling. This is a crucial concept learned in algebra. She struggled at first, but with the guidance of the rules for factoring, she was able to pick it right up!"
