Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We began preparing for finals. We first covered one variable statistics for simple numbers as well as intervals. We then went over how to find percentiles and finding means of intervals. We then reviewed 5 number summary and box plots. We concluded the session going over many examples and problems on the topics."
"The student and I went over the statistics worksheets provided by his teacher. We reviewed vocabulary and went through hypothesis testing and confidence intervals. He was able to grasp the material quickly and work out problems on his own. I think he will do very well on his upcoming exam."
"Today, we mostly covered correlation and regression analysis. The student seems to have a good grasp on most of the concepts. He was a bit confused regarding some of the conceptual components, but once we discussed things, he seemed to do really well on practice questions."
"The client and I continued to prepare for his final exam in Intro to Stats. Today we reviewed Type I and Type II errors and how they are related to different levels of alpha. We then went over, in great detail, ANOVA from both a theoretical and a mathematical perspective. We made sure that he understands the F-ratio and its components, how to calculate it and how to interpret the results. We also went over Tukey's HSD, a post hoc test for ANOVA and how to calculate and interpret it. Next time, we will cover two-way ANOVA."
"In today's session, we reviewed for a final in introductory statistics. We concentrated on a few areas, including weighted and trimmed averages, skew of data, and probability of events-- whether mutually exclusive or independent, or not. We used the definition of a sample space and the complement of an event to solve problems, including finding the probability of an event given the probability of its complement and finding the number of outcomes in an event's complement, given the probability of that event and the number of outcomes in it. The student is very dedicated to doing her best on the final. She is planning to study some more and meet with me one more time before the big test."
"This week, the student and I were working on hypothesis tests with two sample mean, involving estimation of sample mean, standard deviation, degree of freedom for critical values, and tests of variance. We also practiced on the critical values, significant levels, p values, and confidence intervals."
