Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"With another exam coming this week, the student and I spent our session working through her chapter review on right triangles and all the different ways you can put them together or pick them apart. I was pleased to see that she had an easier time with the more fundamental concepts she had struggled with at our last session. She was more confident in using the tools we began working with to build our review of the rest of the chapter. By the end of the session, she was not only confident in her understanding of the material, but enthusiastic in her progress- as for me, I think I might have been as excited for her as she was for herself."
"During this session, we went over surface area and lateral area of various 3d shapes. The student seemed to have a good grasp, but he just needs to work on shapes he doesn't know. Overall, this session went well."
"The student has a test upcoming in geometry class, and we were able to work on his homework and go over his previous test to correct the mistakes. He is currently working on circles and how to find the various measurements of their parts. On his previous test, he had missed a few problems dealing with solving right triangles. I taught him the SohCahToa method for solving right triangles. I left him a note card with the information written on it for his future usage when dealing with right triangles and their parts."
"We went over a study guide the student received for her midterm. The material contained drawing and constructing perpendicular lines, finding volumes of 3-d objects, proving the shape of objects and proving congruent objects using SSS, AA, and SAS Theory."
"We covered sections of the geometry curriculum that would be on their test on Wednesday. These included deductive reasoning, triangles, and quadrilaterals and polygons. We went one-by-one through self-review questions in the textbook, and the students showed a strong mastery of much of the material. Their attitude toward the material was upbeat and enthusiastic, and it was really fun to work with them. For further practice, the students have more worksheets and book problems to do at home. They came out of the session with greater fluency in geometric analysis, and I'm confident that they can do well on their upcoming exam!"
"The student had a test on Friday so we looked ahead at the new material. The material requires her to recall properties and theorems that she learned in previous math courses. We reviewed special right triangles, perpendicular lines, slope formula and the Pythagorean theorem."
