Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This session we covered a fairly wide range of material from rational exponents to complex numbers. The student was having difficulty with complex numbers, but I think we overcame any of her problems. She has almost excessive amounts of practice already available, so I am not concerned."
"The student and I finished up some basic grammar work in English Comp and then spent the rest of the period focusing on simplifying and solving equations using the program online. He had no troubles with the work."
"Met with the student from 6:30 to 8pm. He didn't have many questions for this initial session. For this session, we covered questions regarding his diagnostic test he took on the website. We covered questions regarding translations, logs, graphing and slope, as well as systems of linear equations. Over the course of the semester, we will be covering his diagnostic test to ensure he has an overall understanding of all the areas covered on his exam. He has a good overall understanding of much of the material."
"Reviewed equations of lines and different forms of the equations. Discussed concepts of parallel and perpendicular lines. Covered direct variations, then exponents and the laws of exponents. Did several examples from each section."
"The student and I continued to do more work with inequalities because she has a quiz tomorrow. She knows what she has to keep in mind."
"We covered scientific notation and variable substitution. This was the first session, so I did not see any scores or grades to note progress. I did not leave Griffin with any extra practice; he will be doing homework this week, which I will take a look at next week when we have our next session. There are no concerns from this session."
"Today the student and I worked on her history study guide, her chemistry homework, her English composition homework, and her math homework. We were able to finish everything we worked on and plan on working on her online math packet tomorrow night."
"Today, the student and I worked on his math homework involving prime factorization. We also continued with his online work. He did particularly well with finding area. His multiplication and division are solid."
"My session with the student today went very well! We went over the specific questions he had about his algebra homework and focused on domain, range, and defining the difference between functions and relations. I did not see any scores or grades to note progress and he was a very fast learner. He struggled most with defining a function, but was able to grasp it rather quickly after repeated practice. I did not leave him with any practice, and do not have any concerns about his ability to excel in this subject."
"I started off with a baseline assessment of basic multiplication. The rest of the hour was spent teaching multiplication facts and terms. At the end of session, met with her mother to explain and ask that she study her time tables for home work. Both mother and student felt that session was productive."
"Today we worked on rounding numbers. I created him a chart to guide him through and plan on playing a card game with him in his next session (to practice rounding up)."
"Practiced finding the derivatives through [f(x)-f(x+h)]/h. Overall, he was great at understanding the concept. He is really understanding concepts now and progressing rapidly."
