Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We finished talking about the conservation of momentum and returned to pre-calculus topics. We talked about the unit circle, radians, the coordinates on the circle, and the basic trig functions."
"Trigonometry: graphing, properties, secant, cosecant, cotangent, amplitude, phase shift and period. Some basic identities."
"We reviewed trigonometric functions. By the end of the session, the student was able to perform the problems correctly from his textbook."
"Inverse functions, solving trig equations on a given interval, double and half angle formula, determining the amplitude, time period and phase shift of a given trigonometric function, solving logarithmic equations, laws of indices and logarithms, solving modeling problems, intercepts and asymptotes of a rational function, determining the standard form of a conic from a given general conic equation."
"The student and I spent the first half of the session on preparing for his algebra test tomorrow. We did his review test on research methods, including survey vs. observational study vs. experiment, finding mean, median, mode, range, IQR, upper and lower quartiles, standard deviation, variance, biased vs. representative samples, and using a set of data (with or without outliers) to make conclusions. Secondly, he worked on his geometry packet, going over some triangle and angle principles and also some fundamental algebra principles - factoring, finding zeroes, etc. - for his state assessment prep. He did great!"
"Today we covered conversion from polar form to rectangular form and vice versa and identifying and graphing polar equations. We went over practice questions until the student was comfortable enough with the concept to solve some problems on her own. The student was mainly reviewing material for her upcoming quiz. During the session, we discussed ways to approach the possible questions on her quiz and how to use the methods we learned today to solve them. We worked with online precalculus questions during the session so that she could get more practice from her worksheet from school."
