Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over the quiz/review I made up for him and corrected the one problem he got tricked on. We also went over another practice arithmetic test and had very little problem with them. We went over order of operations, absolute value, and elementary algebra. He seemed to get the material we covered. We are meeting one more time on Tuesday to finish the packets before he takes the test."
"We went back and did a comprehensive review of topics the student missed while she was out of school. We went back to probability and functions. She seems to be extremely comfortable with the previous topics she learned and didn't struggle on anything. I did notice that her instructor teaches the material in a way that seems difficult for her, and I try to give her tips for easier methods. I am leaving her with questions for extra practice."
"The student and I covered her most recent homework. Equations with word problems was the general concept. She did not seem to struggle very much with this topic. We moved onto factoring quadratics. She has been working on getting better at this topic."
"I covered the first half of his review for the semester exam. These problems focused on slope intercept form of equations. Graphing, finding equations, finding parallel and perpendicular slopes and changing forms of equations into slope intercept form were all on there. I included strategies that just help think about what the solution should look like and the steps needed to get there. The win is that towards the end of the session he was able to solve problems with very few, if any, mistakes."
"The student and I had a packet to work on all about finding slope. She has now learned the slope formula and is beginning to understand how to apply it to equations and graphs. Half of the assignment was finding slope with a graph, which she quickly understood. The other half consisted of using the slope formula with 2 points to find slope. She mixed up the numbers a bit at first, but then got the hang of it and was able to complete the assignment."
"Today was our first session. We worked on factorization as that is what the student is learning in school. We looked at factors in grouping. She was able to do this very well and understood the steps necessary to complete factor sets of numbers."
