Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session we went over complex numbers and graphing quadratic expressions. This session went well. It seems that the student has seen a lot of the material."
"The student and I went over her matrices assignment. She did very well on problems 1-10. Problem 13, however, needed more explanation on my part. In 13, she had to find the inverse of a matrix using the determinant and the adjoint matrix. This can be an involved process. She did very well on it, but last week I did not explain the very last step to get the right answer. Once she did this, her answer matched the one in the back of the book. I then explained how to solve a system of equations using matrices. Again, this can be a long and drawn out process. We worked through one together and I asked her to do one on her own for homework. She also had a question on one of the homework problems from the trigonometric identities section last week. We will spend a little more time on these again at our next session to check understanding, but she says that she feels much better about trigonometric identities after working through several problems on her own through my homework."
"We went over more complicated exercises in exponential and logarithmic functions. By the end of the session the student was able to perform the exercises from the textbook correctly."
"We continued preparing for an upcoming exam, beginning the session with word problems related to arc length and area before moving onto problems dealing with linear and angular velocity. The student seemed to be really understanding how to apply the different formulas to problems and was confident going into Friday's quiz."
"Today, we worked on exponential and logarithmic equations and their solutions, sometimes involving solving quadratic equations."
"We worked on definite integrals, Riemann sums, and antiderivatives. The student has a good attitude. I have asked her to practice more and bring me more problems she's worked on."
