Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered many topics like pronouns, past tense, imperatives, and direct and indirect object pronouns."
"Our second session went well. We went over a homework exercise for conversation between two roommates. The student improvised dialogue between a messy roommate and an orderly roommate. He has a pretty good grasp on spoken French, but I helped him with some idiomatic language. We also kept going with a reading in his textbook about ancient French history, and went over new vocabulary. I recommended a couple French films, A Bout de Souffle and Amelie, that he could watch over break if he has time."
"We covered advanced French grammar: question composition, adjectives, adverbs, direct and indirect objects, sentence agreement. Next session, we will cover verb conjugation and tense and conversation skills. She was excited to learn and quick to understand. In terms of strategies, I helped her understand how to break a sentence down to its bones (i.e. subject, verb, object). We also went through common grammar rules and the exceptions, where I provided examples of each. I asked her to go home and review what we went over and come up with any additional questions. There were no grades to note progress since it was our first session. I'm looking forward to the next session in two days to cover the rest of the material."
