Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today was an intensive math section workshop! Before launching into practice questions she had answered incorrectly in Chapters 19 and 20, we "warmed up" by reviewing vocab and reviewing the Question of the Day. The questions that we addressed were all medium- to difficult-level questions, indicating that she is mastering the easy-level questions, as well as most of the medium-level ones. She is also doing a great job applying strategies such as plugging in, working backwards, using and drawing graphics and visuals, and process of elimination/educated guessing. Our workshopping of these questions took up the great majority of the session, and we will finish up with them in the first half of the next session. Her homework is to learn 5 new vocab words, begin working on the Writing Section in the book (reviewing content/strategies), do a practice timed whole Writing section (essay, 10 min. section, and longer section) to get a baseline to inform assessment of strengths/weaknesses, and outline an essay for a sample Section 1."
"The student completed the 15th practice exam and scored a 2310, only scoring under 800 in reading. There were noticeable improvements on her essay and paragraph correction."
" - Meeting 12/27 - The student took the first test in the book, and the weakest subject is Critical Reading. - Vocabulary does need work, but the student got quite a view reading comprehension questions wrong. - Main problem appears to be reading and answering the questions. Once I helped her re-read the question, she chose the correct answer most of the time."
