Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over functions. At the end of the session, he demonstrated ability to solve problems involving functions that were in his pre-calculus textbook."
"Quadratic graphing and transformations, including discriminant. Also introduced two variable functions and "contour" analysis."
"My goal in this session (first) was to determine which topics the student needed the most review of so that I could then set up a plan. We covered the prerequisites (algebra, exponents, etc.) and basic functions."
"We finished reviewing unit 4 with modeling cubic polynomials, solving for inequalities and rational equations, and finding roots and polynomials. The student is very comfortable with using synthetic division now. She is also a lot better with using her graphing calculator and is figuring features as we use it during our session. We will start unit 5 next session, dealing with trigonometric functions. I asked her to review the unit circle."
"We did exercises on graphing ellipses, hyperbolas, and parabolas from the students' equations or from given vertex, foci, and vice versa."
"In today's session, the student worked on homework from 2.8 which focused on solving functions with inequalities. We were able to use a step by step process with these problems, and once she got the hang of the process, she did very well. She is also getting better at using the quadratic formula. It is also vital that she memorize the formula for any quiz or test."
