Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we reviewed all subjects that are covered on the student's test for tomorrow. I showed him how to calculate sines and cosines of special angles in all 4 quadrants quickly by memorizing the values in the 1st quadrant and easily finding the corresponding angles in the other quadrants. He had a copy of a similar test covering the same material from last year. We went over every problem in detail. For some of the harder trig identity problems, I had him explain why he used certain identities and it seems he has a much better knowledge of their workings based on that."
"The student and I worked on several final exam topics: graphs of sine, cosine, tangent, cosecant, secant, and cotangent functions. We worked on solving trigonometric equations on closed intervals and inverse trig expressions. I assigned him a complete final exam practice test in advance of our next session."
"The student and I went over pre-calc material for the upcoming makeup test. It was over material that we had already gone over so we printed off a new review (one that we had not worked on together) and did as much of it as we could during the hour and a half."
"During this session we worked through the first review sheet that the student had from the final. As we went, we starred the problems that he would need to focus more attention to. He did struggle with a couple problems but did well at working through them and persevering despite being frustrated. He re-took the test for practice on his own time."
"The student and I spent our last session covering the last few topics of his class before his final: Riemann sums, integration by substitution, maximizing revenue, demand elasticity, and more."
"The student and I focused on limits, including connecting the limit to the value of the function at a given point, and considering whether the function approached the same value from different directions."
