Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered factoring quadratic equations, finding roots of equations, ratios, and probability. We also worked on inequalities and how to solve them. The student was having quite a bit of trouble with basic math and remembering how to multiply and divide algebraic functions and fractions. However, she gained some understanding of ratios and factoring by the end. I promised to send her the diagnostic test for her to complete before our next session, and I will find practice problems to send to her as well."
"The student and I met today to work on the GRE. We began by discussing how the GRE functions (what type of questions are on it, how it is scores, how it is similar/ different from the SAT). After this, we started on the math section. Because this is her first time working with the GRE, I took special attention to begin with practice problems from the first set of the text in the second practice exam to familiarize her with the style of comparable answer choices. In general, she has a good foundation of math concepts, but it seems she's a little rusty in applying the concepts (specific area formulas, the Pythagorean theorem, terms such as median, etc.). The more questions we went through, the more the math started to come back to her. At the moment, I am not measuring performance in that it seems more useful for her to see the math in action and take chances guessing and figuring out the problems. For our next lesson, we will continue where we left off on question 17, and she will have completed the section as well as reviewed the chapter that outlines the concepts and terms that will be covered on the exam."
"We briefly reviewed content from the previous classes. Then, we moved on to statistics and probability. In the lesson, we discussed probability, combinations, averages and fraction evaluations. She continues to show great improvement."
