Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student needed some help on the new material (rates and proportions) that she had for homework. She was doing fine on the simple problems but needed help setting up and solving the two application problems on her assignment. Overall, she did a good job solving the equations. She did the prime factorization correctly and was able to convert fractions, decimals, and percents. She worked really hard during her session!! We will continue to work on new material during her next session and review for her final exam."
"The student and I spent the session going over a homework assignment on series and power series, and then we talked about a couple of the tests related to series convergence/divergence. Initially, we went over a difficult problem from his homework assignment where we had to create series out of given information. I outlined a process that was useful in doing this in more general cases as we worked on the problem. We then went over a number of problems involving power series and how the series form of a given function could be used to find the series form of other, related functions. Again, we focused on the process involved rather than the specific function involved. With the time we had left, we went over the easiest of the series tests for convergence/divergence. We will go over the remainder in our next session."
"We covered adding fractions, subtracting fractions, adding decimals, subtracting decimals, multiplying whole numbers, and dividing whole numbers all in real-life situations. The student was meticulous in her process. She comprehended all the steps necessary to find a solution to the word problems. She achieved an 84 on her recent report card in 6th grade mathematics. She has a an average of 79 after 5 six week grading periods. She has grown a lot as a math scholar. I have the utmost confidence that she will met the standard required to pass the 6th grade mathematics assessment exam. She was very laborious in completing her workbook lessons. It was a productive session."
"We worked on the Civil Service Exam practice questions on analysis and interpretation of administrative charts, with questions on percentages of allocated salaries of subset groups of staff compared to overall budgeted expenditure."
"We met and worked on reviewing the topics covered in our last appointment (similar shapes, congruent shapes, and point-slope intercept form). She did very well during our time, and it was obvious that she works best when there is someone there to act as a cheerleader for her. She picked up the content material very quickly and was able to retain the information from our last session."
"The student and I worked on her math packet. We calculated what she needed to get on her history exam next week to bring her grade up. The student is a smart girl."
